You have invested in the very best quality of materials and workmanship and it is essential that Mapei resin floors be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure a safe and hygienic finish, which will prolong the life of your investment. According to their type, it is known that there are two types of resin floor system. These are as follows:
- Epoxy
- Cementitious Polyurethane
Protect the New Floors
Under normal circumstances, cleaning should be carried out using a scrubbing method, together with an appropriate chemical diluted to the manufacturer’s instruction. The size of the floor will dictate which of several recommended methods should be used. There are many different types of brushes and cleaning pads available and advice should be sought on which should be used. Generally, a stiff bristle with an abrasive coating will give a far more aggressive scrub than a soft uncoated bristle, but this will remove the natural gloss from the floor. Conversely, a soft bristle brush will not affect the finish of the floor but may not completely remove stubborn marks.
Choice of Chemical
The choice of chemical is determined by the type of soiling/contamination, but wherever possible a neutral (Ph7) or mild alkaline detergent should be used.
Frequency of Cleaning
All floors will need cleaning periodically to remove dirt and contamination which could give hazards, such as slippery patches, mould or bacterial growth, as well as simply improving the appearance. The frequency of cleaning will depend upon the degree of soiling and contamination, the type of contamination and the degree of cleanliness required. Any local spillage should be treated immediately, particularly if hazardous
HIGH PRESSURE CLEANERS
High pressure cleaners may be used on all Mapei floors provided that the temperature of the water does not exceed 65Degree Celcius on epoxy based systems. However, Mapefloor CPU HD and Mapefloor CPU RT can be steam cleaned, at 9mm and above.

Sealing the Floor
Sealing of smooth resin systems prior to and periodically during use is recommended to retain a high gloss appearance.
This can be done by applying three coats of metallized acrylic emulsion dressing, either by a clean mop or special applicator. Seals are available in non-buffable, semi-buffable and fully buffable grades. For most applications, we recommend the semi-buffable grade. Periodically the seal will need to be removed and a new coat applied. This is done quite simply by using a conventional alkali stripping chemical in the scrubbing solution, followed by a thorough rinse and dry. The seal will provide a layer on top of your floor, which will improve the scratch and scuff resistance, and also enhance and prolong the appearance of the floor.
